Royalmont Academy Unveils Four-Year Christian Leadership
Program and Skilled Trades Expansion for 2027
New initiative connects Christian leadership with
hands-on preparation for the world of work.
MASON, Ohio — October 27, 2026 — Royalmont Academy is moving forward with a renewed vision for high school education that goes beyond traditional college preparation. Approved by its Board of Directors on October 22, the initiative will combine rigorous academics with four years of intentional Christian leadership development, expanded opportunities in skilled trades and entrepreneurship, and a dedicated high school space beginning with the 2027–2028 school year.
Leadership Isn’t Just Taught. It’s Put into Practice.
Royalmont’s four-year leadership experience is designed for every high school student—not only those elected to student government or named captain of a team. Students will begin with self-discovery and personal formation, then progress through Logic, Rhetoric, mentorship, real-world projects, and increasing leadership responsibilities. The progression culminates in advanced leadership experiences during senior year, making the practice of leadership a defining part of a Royalmont education.
“If we’re serious about forming leaders, we have to give students opportunities to actually lead,” said Josh Ater, Head of School. “That means real responsibility, real challenges, and opportunities to discover what they’re capable of accomplishing. We want students graduating not just with knowledge, but with the confidence, character, and experience to make a difference in the world.”
That progression is grounded in Royalmont’s Catholic mission and its educational approach as part of the international Regnum Christi network of schools. Through Integral Formation®, students develop intellectually, humanly, spiritually, and apostolically. Individual accompaniment puts that philosophy into practice: teachers and mentors know each student personally, recognize their gifts, and guide their growth in partnership with families.
Together, the four-year progression and personal guidance connect leadership development to each student’s growth in knowledge, character, and faith. As students mature, they take on greater responsibility and put their gifts to work in service to others.
Expanding Opportunities Through Skilled Trades and Entrepreneurship
Royalmont is expanding its high school curriculum to include skilled trades, beginning with construction-focused coursework, while developing additional opportunities in culinary arts, electrical and plumbing. Through hands-on projects, practical problem-solving, mentorship, and experiences with industry professionals, students will explore their God-given talents and gain valuable experience beyond the classroom. These offerings will complement Royalmont’s college-preparatory foundation, providing meaningful opportunities for students pursuing college, skilled trades, business ownership, or other professional paths.
A Dedicated High School Environment and Room to Grow
Royalmont will reclaim more than 20 existing classrooms and related spaces currently leased to and outside organization, establishing a dedicated home for its high school, creating a separate middle school environment, and expanding available space for elementary programs. The school has also engaged MSA Architects to develop a long-term campus plan that explores future athletic facilities, a chapel, and spaces for school and community gatherings.
Families interested in learning more are invited to Royalmont’s High School Open House on Thursday, November 12, from 5–7 p.m.
