This week, our K-8 students took center stage for the Royalmont Academy poetry recitation, a beloved tradition that showcases confidence, excellence, and eloquence. Students from Kindergarten to eighth grade stood before their peers and parents, delivering carefully memorized poetry with poise. This event has always been a hallmark of academic rigor, and this year, it is reaching new heights.

Royalmont Academy Poetry Recitation Meets New Competition

For the first time, the Royalmont Academy poetry recitation serves as the preliminary round for the RC Education Poetry Contest. Students who excel in our local competition will go on to represent Royalmont Academy in a nationwide contest with other Regnum Christi schools.

This new challenge raises the bar for students while also deepening their learning experience. It strengthens public speaking, memorization, and artistic expression, helping students engage with great literature in a meaningful way.

The Power of Poetry in Education

Poetry is more than words on a page—it is a dynamic form of expression. Through this challenge, students strengthen their language skills, sharpen their critical thinking, and build self-confidence. Even at the youngest ages, students learn to speak clearly and expressively, mastering the rhythms and emotions of poetic language.

Furthermore, the courage it takes for a five-year-old to stand before an audience and recite a poem is remarkable. Their confidence reflects the dedication of our faculty and the high standards of formation at Royalmont Academy.

Looking Ahead

With our in-school recitation now complete, we turn our attention to the next phase: the RC Education Poetry Contest in April. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated. Their hard work and dedication will serve them well as they prepare for the next level of competition.
