Royalmont Academy Athletics: Celebrating Achievements & Growth

At Royalmont Academy, we are proud to celebrate the achievements of our Royalmont Academy Athletics Program and our dedicated student-athletes, whose hard work and perseverance inspire us all. This fall season, our Cross Country and Volleyball teams brought home remarkable honors, showcasing the excellence that defines our school community.

Cross Country: A Historic Season

This year, our high school Cross Country team made history! Congratulations to Anna Brink, Max Broek, Noah Kiefer, and Therese Mills for being named to the OVCC First Team. This marks the first time in Royalmont’s history that all our runners achieved this distinction. Additional accolades include:

  • Anna Brink: OVCC Runner of the Year and 2nd place at the State Christian High School Meet.
  • Max Broek: 4th place at State.
  • Noah Kiefer: 9th place at State.
  • Therese Mills: 19th place at State.

The girls team secured an impressive 2nd place in the OVCC, while Max and Noah finished among the top six runners. Their determination and teamwork have set a new standard for Royalmont athletics.

Varsity Volleyball: A Season of Teamwork and Recognition

Our Varsity Girls Volleyball team, coached by the outstanding Emma Zink, also had an incredible season. Special congratulations to:

  • Delana Hendricks and Autumn Hendricks for earning OVCC First and Second Team All-Star honors.
  • Maya Bradley, Sophia Ford, and Daphne Nelson for receiving Honorable Mentions.

Thank you, athletes, for your hard work and commitment to excellence on and off the court!

Excitement for Winter Sports

As we transition to the winter season, we’re excited to welcome our Basketball and Bowling teams:

  • Bowling: Coached by Mr. Skie.
  • Boys Basketball: Coached by Mr. Darren Backstrom, Chris Brown and Cody Gertz (Grades 3–4), Mr. Tony Braun and Chris Duffy (Grades 5–6), and Mr. Dustin Broek and Adam Mills (Grades 7–8).
  • Girls Basketball: Coached by Mrs. Combs and Miss Brittany (Grades 3–4).

Spring Sports: Soccer and Track

Looking ahead to spring, we are thrilled to introduce Girls Soccer for grades 8–12, led by Miss Abigail Rose, offering an exciting new opportunity for students to grow athletically and build camaraderie. Additionally, we are excited to bring back the always popular Track program, coached by the phenomenal Beth Brink. Track provides a dynamic way for students to develop their skills, challenge themselves, and enjoy team competition.

Summer Sports Camps

Mark your calendars! From June 2–20, Royalmont will host Summer Sports Camps featuring golf, basketball, and soccer, with the possibility of a few exciting surprises. Whether students want to improve their skills or learn the basics, our summer camps are a fantastic way to stay active and engaged. Stay tuned for more details as summer approaches!

Athletics at a Regnum Christi School

As a Regnum Christi school, athletics plays a vital role in our mission of integral formation. Sports are a unique avenue for developing virtues like perseverance, teamwork, humility, and leadership—qualities that cannot be fully taught in a classroom. Through our athletic programs, students grow in discipline and character, preparing them for success in all areas of life.

Join the Excitement

We are so grateful to our incredible Athletic Director, Joe Meibers, whose leadership and dedication make all of this possible. A heartfelt thank you also goes to this year’s amazing head coaches: Darren Backstrom, Beth Brink, Dustin Broek, Mrs. Combs, Chris Duffy, Mr. Skie, and Emma Zink. Your hard work and passion ensure our student-athletes thrive both on and off the field.

If you or someone you know may be interested in coaching for next year, we are starting to take applications now. Contact Mr. Meibers to learn more about how you can contribute to our growing athletic programs.
