Praying Together at Royalmont: Parent Formation Night Recap

At Royalmont Academy, we believe that praying together as a family is one of the most powerful ways to form both hearts and minds. As a Regnum Christi school, we walk alongside parents as the primary educators of their children. Our role in loco parentis means we partner with families—not replace them—as we raise the next generation of faith-filled leaders.

On Thursday, March 27, we welcomed Royalmont parents to a special evening dedicated to praying together. The event, titled Spiritual Parent Formation Night, featured guest speakers Chris and Denise Jasek—a couple with over 30 years of marriage and ministry experience. Together, they’ve raised five children and served countless couples and families through retreat leadership and spiritual formation. Their talk offered a heartfelt and practical message: when families pray together, they grow in unity, peace, and purpose.

Strengthening Families by Praying Together

Chris and Denise shared how praying together has shaped their marriage and family over the years—and how other families can experience the same grace. Their wisdom was simple, real, and grounded in experience.

Denise offered a number of practical suggestions parents could begin using right away:

  • Start where you’re already gathered—mealtimes, bedtime, or in the car.

  • Protect mealtime—make it a tech-free space to invite reflection and gratitude.

  • Celebrate baptism and birthdays—affirm each child’s dignity and God-given gifts.

  • Pray while you work—turn everyday routines into spiritual moments.

  • Model vulnerability—let children hear you pray honestly for strength and guidance.

One of the evening’s most memorable reminders came from Denise:

“The more time we spend with Jesus, the more we will reflect His love to our family.”

This simple truth captured the heart of the evening. Prayer doesn’t require perfection—it requires presence, consistency, and love.

Why Praying Together Matters for Children

Research confirms the value of praying together as a family. A 2019 study from the Institute for Family Studies found that children in stable, faith-filled homes are more likely to thrive socially, emotionally, and academically. Additionally, data from the National Study of Youth and Religion shows that parents who model shared prayer dramatically increase the likelihood that their children will carry the faith into adulthood.

This is why Royalmont places such strong emphasis on forming not just students—but entire families.

A Night Rooted in Our Mission

The evening began with dinner and warm conversation. Following the talk, parents and families gathered for a peaceful Holy Hour in Adoration. Some brought their children to join in prayer, while others embraced quiet time while using the provided babysitting.

This beautiful evening reflected Royalmont’s Four Pillars of formationSpiritual, Human, Intellectual, and Apostolic. Events like these aren’t optional at Royalmont. They’re foundational.
