“Come, Holy Spirit, let the fire fall.
Each Pentecost, I am reminded of this song sung often when I was a child. More than just a melody, these words are a cry for revival—a longing for the Holy Spirit to come again with fire, power, and transformation.
Pentecost marks a dramatic turning point in salvation history. The apostles, once hidden in fear, were transformed by the descent of the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1–4). They stepped out of the upper room with boldness and preached the Gospel to every nation under heaven.
Jesus had promised this:
“But I tell you the truth, it is better for you that I go. For if I do not go, the Advocate will not come to you” (John 16:7, USCCB).
The Holy Spirit—the Advocate, the Paraclete—did come. And with Him came:
Supernatural gifts: healing, prophecy, tongues, interpretation, discernment, miracles (1 Cor 12, Rom 12)
Sanctifying gifts: wisdom, understanding, counsel, fortitude, knowledge, piety, and fear of the Lord (Isaiah 11:2)
Fruits of the Spirit: love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Gal 5:22–23)
These are not distant relics of the early Church—they are active today, alive in every believer open to the Spirit’s work.
At Royalmont Academy, we live the Regnum Christi charism—a spirituality deeply animated by the Holy Spirit. Regnum Christi, which means “Kingdom of Christ,” invites each of us to bring Christ’s love into the world through friendship with Him and apostolic mission.
This mission is impossible without the Holy Spirit.
In fact, the Regnum Christi Federation has increasingly emphasized the importance of the Holy Spirit in evangelization—not as an optional spiritual preference but as a vital engine for mission. A recent international commission, “Considerations on Charisms” explored how charisms like healing and discernment deepen our call to personal holiness and apostolic fruitfulness. Regnum Christi forms apostles through:
Contemplative prayer guided by the Spirit
Community life inspired by shared mission
Personal accompaniment, a Spirit-led journey
Apostolic boldness—just like the apostles at Pentecost
Our students are not just learning about the Spirit—they are learning to walk with Him, speak to Him, and depend on Him.
The lyrics of Let the Fire Fall song continue:
“Holy Spirit, purify my heart…
Holy Spirit, set my life on fire…”
This is our Pentecost prayer. And it’s not just for adults. At Royalmont, we believe students are called now—to be joyful witnesses, to hear the Spirit’s voice, and to respond with courage.
We pray:
Let the fire fall in our classrooms, sparking wisdom, insight, and wonder.
Let the fire fall in our hearts, fanning into flame love for the Eucharist and the Church.
Let the fire fall in our homes, purifying, healing, and restoring.
Let the fire fall on our community, that we might be united in Christ and ready for mission.
This Pentecost, don’t just remember the fire. Ask for it.
Come, Holy Spirit.
Purify our hearts.
Set our lives on fire.
Let the fire fall—again.
Whether you are a parent, student, or grandparent—you are not too young or too old to be a saint. The Spirit who called the disciples from the upper room calls us too: to bold faith, courageous witness, and joyful holiness.
