A Catholic leadership high school does far more than deliver strong academics. It guides students to grow in character, confidence, and faith. At Royalmont, leadership is not an exclusive title held by a few. Instead, every student steps into leadership roles—in the classroom, on retreats, and through service to others.
This year, for example, our high school students are working side by side with the Legionaries of Christ priests to plan and lead a mission trip to Appalachia. They are not only participating but also organizing, fundraising, and carrying out the trip. As a result, they learn that authentic leadership begins with service.
Large schools often highlight their budgets, sports programs, and facilities. However, Royalmont offers something many families consider even more valuable: personal formation for every student. In our small classes, teachers and mentors know students by name and call them to greatness.
Leadership development at Royalmont includes:
Unique Electives such as entrepreneurship, self-discovery, project management, etiquette, career apprenticeships, and Catholic leadership.
Mentorship and Accompaniment that help students discover their God-given design.
Service and Mission Work like Appalachia, March for Life, and local outreach.
Faith-First Formation that equips students to lead with integrity and virtue.
As Senior Lillian Nieport shared: “One of the main reasons why Royalmont is different is that our teachers work so hard for the high school to experience Jesus in a real and personal way. They plan trips for us to grow in faith, like retreats to River Ridge and the March for Life. These events let us focus on a main point in our education: growing in our relationship with God.”
At many other schools, leadership means signing up for a handful of electives or checking off service hours. At Royalmont, leadership runs much deeper. We have built and continue to develop custom curriculum that no one else offers. For example, our Imago Dei class—“Know Thyself”—guides students through assessments to understand their God-given strengths and weaknesses. From there, we intentionally train soft skills such as communication, collaboration, and initiative—skills most young adults don’t encounter until their first job after college. Because of this, Royalmont students graduate not only with the competencies employers demand, but also with the virtues to lead with integrity and faith. This unique combination puts them ahead of the rest.
Families want to know if leadership training makes a difference. At Royalmont, it does. Our graduates pursue diverse paths, proving that leadership formation prepares them for both college and life.
One alum is charting his cross-country flight plan while beginning college.
Several chose to be roommates in college, strengthening friendships formed at Royalmont.
Another graduate worked for a year, built new skills, and earned acceptance into the exclusive St. Joseph the Worker School, which combines theology with a trade certificate.
Some pursue priestly vocations, while others follow God’s call to places as far as the California coast.
And yes, we even have high school sweethearts engaged to be married, eager to build Christ-centered families.
Alumni Therese Mills (25) summarized it best: “Royalmont does not simply prepare your children for worldly success, rather it equips them to fulfill God’s Will for them in this world so that they may enjoy the ultimate goal—full communion with God in Heaven.”
Parents sometimes wonder if a smaller high school limits opportunities. In reality, our size gives students more. Every student has a chance to lead, every voice matters, and every gift is nurtured. Where big schools can make leadership opportunities scarce, Royalmont places them at the center. Furthermore, our close-knit community ensures that students grow in both faith and confidence.
